This helps fulfill their nutritional needs. Plants make up the majority of a bear’s diet, up to as much as 90%.Īs omnivores, bears enjoy a variety of foods in their diet, including meat. When plants bloom and blossom during the spring, bears will consume plenty of them. Plants do most of their growing during the spring and summer months when there are long hours of daylight for photosynthesis to occur.ĭuring these seasons they grow very quickly by absorbing water through their roots. They eat more plants in the spring while hunting more during summertime.
